Trailwork on the Backbone Trail between Mulholland Hwy and Etz Meloy Mtwy on November 16, 2019.

VOlunteers from CORBA and the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council built retaining walls and cleared out drains.

We build a number of retaining walls - wherever the outside of the trail was in danger of being washed away by water flowing over it.

As we worked out way up the trail, we found this drain that needed to be dug out on one of the switchbacks. It wasn't deep enough to drain the trail any more.

We had to dig out about 6" to make it downhill to get the water off the trail.

The crew led by Steve Messer, CORBA's president, built up rock walls on both sides of a newly installed culvert. The previous culvert was plastic and burned in the Woolsey fire.
