CYCLOCROSS RACE

The Urban Cyclocross is USAC sanctioned, scores National ranking points and builds bike handling, aerobic speed as well as technical skills for its competitors. And, its absolutely a blast to watch as a spectator!

Come out and join the race! All ages welcome to participate! All registrants can choose to race as well as enjoy the Fat Tire Fest! Poker Rides: Self-guided rides from station to station collecting 5 cards for the best poker hand. Prizes and raffle tickets will be awarded for the best hands. The Beginner route is approx. 4.5 miles on fire roads and paved walkways around the main staging area. The Intermediate route is approx. 9 miles and includes moderately steep climbs and moderately technical single track. The Advanced route is approx. 11 miles and has some steep climbs and descents, some technical single track.

Giant Raffle / Silent Auction: Win bikes and great bike gear! Win cool schwag from all the top bike companies and the best local bike shops! Prizes will include bikes, frames, light systems, forks and more! Raffle tickets will be on sale from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Raffle starts at 3:00.

Silent Auction items will be on view from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00. Winners will be announced during the main raffle.

Poker ride winners and winners of other events will be posted at the main staging are after 1:30, and prizes can be picked up any time.

Exhibitors / Demo Bikes: Come see the hottest bikes just rolling out for 2011! Demo bikes from Specialized, Rocky Mountain Bicycles at the Marzocchi exhibit and Maverick and BMC bikes at the Topanga Creek Bicycles exhibit! Check out the latest bike gear from wheel sets to clothing in our exhibitor area in the main staging area!

Skills Clinic: Mark Langton, CORBA's Skills Instructor, will hold a skills clinic with Allison Mann, XC Pro rider and champion. Riders of all skill levels are welcome to come join the clinic and learn from the best! Mark will conduct the skills clinic, offering his expertise and more than 20 years as an instructor teaching basic techniques that everyone should know. A wonderful opportunity for riders of all skill levels!

Cynergy Hill Climb Contest: Cynergy Cycles sponsors this year's Hill Climb Contest featuring a short and challenging climb for fastest ascent. Prizes awarded for the best times in each category. Sign up at the Cynergy exhibit.

Bike Limbo: How low can you go? Test your agility, flexibility and balance -- the lower you can go without knocking off the bar -- the more chances you have to win great prizes! All riders must use a standard bike.

Kids Fun Zone: Kids and their parents can have fun on special small skills features designed just for kids! Come ride and play all day! All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardiant, helmets and a signed waiver is required.

Guided Rides: REI Beginner Poker ride meets at 9 a.m. at the REI exhibit. Ride includes mostly fire road, easy terrain and some short hills. Approx. 4.5 miles.

Intermediate Poker Ride meets at 8:30 a.m. Ride includes several moderate climbs, technical single track. Approx. 9 miles.

New! Advanced XC ride with Guest Pro Allison Mann and FTF ride leaders! This year the Fat Tire Fest is offering a long distance ride route for advanced riders. This is not a poker ride. The ride will have two routes and ride leaders. One route will be approx. 20 miles and 2240' gain and the other route will be 17 miles and 1800' gain. Riders must arrive promptly at 8 am to register. The rides leave at 8:30 am sharp from Registration/Poker Ride Station 1 in the main staging area. Ride time will be 2 1/2 hours.The route will include crossing the top of the Castaic Dam, some technical single track , soft sandy conditions, fire road, fun fast swoopy trails, plenty of climbing and road ride back to the park. Riders may pull their five poker cards at Station 1 before they depart or upon returning from the ride.

Skills Features Area: Come test your skills and play on the skinnies and ramps in the main staging area! Obstacles for various skill levels from beginner to expert.

NEW! Light & Motion Night Demo Ride: Light & Motion will hold a night demo ride Sat. Oct 16 in Castaic. There will be two rides with max. 15 riders each. Light & Motion will provide the light systems. To sign up for the night ride demo, click here.
