Before the workday started, a rider came up and told us that a tree had fallen across the trail a short distance away. It was very close, only 100' down the trail.

The roots gave way, perhaps in the wind we had yesterday.

After these folks came through, we cut off the pointed branches to make it easier to get past the tree without any puncture wounds.

Out on the trail for our planned workday, we mostly cut overgrowing brush back and hid it off the side of the trail, mostly out of sight or passers by.

The fellow in red, in the background, is jumping on a pile of cuttings to smush them down so they won't be visible from the trail.

With us today were 5 members of mountain biking teams from Calabasas area schools, and two parents. Here they are taking a well-deserved break.

Today's work was a joint effort with the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council.

On the way back down to the cars after the work was finished, this was the view. The ocean was much clearer than in this photo.

When we got back to the cars about 2:30, the park service had already cut the fallen tree up into little pieces and cleared the trail!
