We haven't had much rain for a long long time, so this work is a little dusty.
|

Here you can see how the slough (junk that has fallen on the trail from above) covers about 2/3 of the usable width of the trail. With a wider trail, it's easier to pick a line, pass oncoming people, and avoid riding too close to the soft edge and risk a tumble.

After fixing the worst of the slough problem, we headed back to the cars, building drainage nicks as we went. This was the first one.

Working on another drainage nick. The pupose of the nick is to capture the water that runs down the trail and funnel it off. This keeps water from eroding deeper ruts in the middle of the trail.
