Trailwork on Guadalasca Trail in Pt Mugu State Park on Feb 25, 2012

We're concentrating on removing brush from the the downslope side (outside of the trail; on the left in this photo).

Later on, the trail will be moved to the downslope side and outsloped so the rainwater will run off it, rather than down the middle.

When the trail is moved over, the ruts in the middle will be filled in and the upslope brush will grow in where the trail used to be

In the end, the trail will narrow back down to a singletrack and will be much easier to maintain.

State Park employee Dale uses a 'pole saw' to cut through thicker and higher branches. It made our work much easier!

State Parks has a Gator to get get our tools up the trail for us.

We clear high branches that would impede people where the trail will be moved to, especially tall bikers (like me!) and equestrians
